We don’t know how this nutjob has come to call himself “The Rational Man”, as he appears to be anything but (a “rational man”) in the eponymously titled “The Rational Man” report, filed just above this Story Notice, which is meant to direct your attention to the story and alert you that HERE IT IS!!!, and which we, here, of the Secret Editorial Board, are obliged to give Our Readers, once the story somehow makes it past our censors – which is us – and which is why our judgment on these matters should never be questioned.

Regarding Editing Conventions on This Website

By the way, keep in mind that part of this operation’s name is “Unedited”, so let not questions regarding silly conventions, such as whether a comma belongs inside or outside a quotation mark, set your minds on fire. Rather, we are here to put those fires out.

Story Notice, Cont’d

In any case, as we were saying, our advice (because we truly care about Our Readers, as the above paragraph immediately before this one clearly proves) is to stay away from this guy, this “Rational Man”, should you happen to meet him, or have him pointed out to you by someone else, who maybe knows a thing or two about him, and is perhaps trying to save your life, though in a subdued, understated, or even unspoken kind of way.

Completely dismissive of this fearmongering approach to The Rational Man over what another set among our club say is just unsubstantiated speculation of the yenta-gossip variety, is this very aforementioned (just a little earlier in this very sentence) other set inside our Secret Board, who claim – based on supposedly and actually substantiated claims, which they claim to have in their possession – that this “Rational Man” is just a self-renamed, or otherwise other sobriquet for the “Man of Reason”, who contributed the long-lost, comparatively and collectively brief (as compared to the rest of The Kyiv Commix) “Man on Earth” critical theory section of our Commix reporting service, which currently persists in existing on our website as a mere selection of its original self (in itself, brief to begin with, when it was all over – at least for now), and which selection is itself highly abridged as compared to the originals (in a Microsoft Word folder of yesteryear, stashed away in someone’s computer somewhere around here – believe us, not worth seeing), parts of which comprise this website’s selection.

And the first problem we – that is, those with seniority here who have been compared to yentas by our less-seniority secret board equals in the other camp – have with this mere theory, is that up until this very moment, throughout all of The Commix, there is never a mention of any “Man of Reason” anywhere. And while we remember entertaining the notion that such a “Man of Reason” was possibly the author of the short (and possibly short-lived; we’ll see) “Man on Earth” series, the only reason we did that, as we agree we recall, was because no author ever takes (took) responsibility for any Man on Earth entry – you know, by never putting his name anywhere on any piece, never mind the blank spaces at their bottoms, where any bylines would naturally have to go (according to our Kyiv Unedited Secret Editorial Board’s Style Guide). But the writing style being the same throughout (which does appear to follow our Style Guide to at least some extent, thus suggesting a possible connection to these very operations themselves – a pretty hard thing to do), post-analysis, we, and that means ALL OF US HERE, have, at the very least, always agreed that ALL the Men on Earth entries were penned by exactly one and the same guy (for no woman’s hand, this – according to state-of-the-art AI writing analysis); hence, the initial “Man of Reason” theory, which, by the way, is not dispositive of any possible fact that such a “Man” actually even exists. Because maybe it’s altogether someone else!

And the second problem we have (please see preceding paragraph for the “first problem”), now, and have always had, with these things is the unnamed author’s insistence on applying literary criticism and theory to factual works of journalism and reporting, which is what Kyiv Unedited is about. For if it is anything, it certainly is not fiction. Although these Man on Earth pieces come across as nigh-scholarly, rational and rationally argued literary critiques of Commix texts (hence, the other camp’s “Rational Man-Man of Reason” theory), but also as no less reasonable and well-reasoned, almost academic, literary critiques of Commix texts (hence, our original “Man of Reason” theory), we feel doing this was utterly absurd. For what reason? Toward the service of what purpose?

Well, and that’s all we have to say about this – for now…
